One of my favourite parts about my job is getting the opportunity to collaborate with creative people from around the world. So I was delighted to receive an email from the photographer/potter Samantha Nichols asking if I'd like to run a workshop with her. One with good food, good conversation and Samantha sharing her tricks and techniques on how to make her style of pottery.
I of course jumped at the chance to work with her and to be part of a New York based workshop, it's a city that I find constantly inspiring and one I miss quite frequently even though I love London dearly.
I kept the food simple as most of the time would be spent at the workbench. Pairing figs with goats cheese, honey & thyme, roasted carrots with cumin and one of my favourite appetisers; apple, mozzarella, shallot and herbed mini calzones.
This workshop took place at the very rad pottery studio Mud, Sweat & Tears in Hell's Kitchen. I encourage everyone to check this place out. Upon entering the place meeting the owner and some of the regulars you get an instant sense of community like no other. Everyone was so welcoming and eager to help out!
This event happened on a mid-September evening in Manhattan.
